Fine Face, Empty Mind
I'm Not Your Romeo & You're Not My Juliet
I was on a call with a friend recently, let’s name her X, she was heartbroken and in tears.
She liked this guy. Thought he was the one. But he told her, "You're pretty, but I can't feel anything more than that. We don’t connect — like really connect."
And boom. Her world shattered.
But here’s the thing: he didn’t say that to be cruel. He just said what so many of us think but don’t say out loud.
You see, pretty faces are everywhere.
Soft voices. Sweet laughs. Drip outfits. Vibe playlists. Cool aesthetics. That’s the surface level.
But then what?
What happens when the convo dies after the usual “wyd” and “have you eaten?”
What happens when we can't talk about life, purpose, books, identity, society, or faith?
What happens when I’m stretching my thoughts into the stars, and you’re still on Earth… scrolling?
It’s not about pride. It’s about connection.
Some of us are sapiosexuals — we don’t fall for faces; we fall for minds.
And if your mind doesn’t stretch mine, if I can’t feel inspired, if I can’t admire the way you think, speak, or reason… then I’m sorry. It’s not working.
Because beauty fades. Looks get familiar. But intellect?
That’s what makes someone unforgettable.
Sometimes, it’s not even your fault. We live in a world that overhypes beauty and downplays brainwork.
But for people like us, no amount of fine will cover the silence that follows a shallow mind. We need intellectually stimulating conversations. Like bro, challenge my thoughts.
So yeah — I told my friend,
"It hurts now, but one day you'll thank him for not wasting your time. You weren’t the one for him, but more importantly — he wasn't the one for you."
Because you deserve someone who sees your beauty and your brilliance.
Someone who’s not just saying sweet nothings, but who’s curious about your thoughts, your views, your essence.
Someone who doesn’t just post you, but builds with you.
So no, I’m not your Romeo. And you’re not my Juliet.
I’m not dying for shallow love.
We’re living for something deeper. Something that grows, not just glows.

This is really good and beautifully crafted! You write so well!! Allahumo baarikk✨🥰
This is beautifully written. I felt every word deep. You’re right… maybe they weren’t meant for us, and we just can’t see that yet. Yes, it hurts — but sometimes, letting go is what truly saves us. It’s about connection — conversations that stretch you, challenge you, inspire you. And it’s perfectly okay to want that.
Maybe one day, we’ll thank the ones who didn’t stay… because they made room for someone who sees all of us — not just the surface.
